Iguazu Falls - Part 2

This is where my South America tour started.  Iguazu Falls are water falls of the Iguazu River on the border of Argentina and Brazil.  The Brazilian side consists of just 20% while the Argentinian has 80% of the total falls.

All these photos were taken from the Argentinian side.

Nature as a source of power.

Everyone needs to see Iguazu Falls at least once in their lifetime

A steele walkway gives tourist the opportunity to get up close to the falls.  There are a multitude of viewpoints to see Iguazu and excellent coverage throughout the park.

275 total drops, 60-82 meters high.  Total width of 2.7 kilometers or 1.7 miles.

It take about half a day to see the Falls.

The rising mist, lush fauna, and the falls make up this famous natural water park.

Devil's Throat is the the pivotal section of the falls in the shape of a J.

In opinion, the sound of the Falls is what resonates the most.  After you see the falls, it is the sound that sound that reminds me of its sheer force.

There really isn't a bad view of Iguazu Falls.

Laguna Colorada y Laguna Verde, Altiplano

This is a repost, to illustrate a side by side comparison between the two lakes in the Altiplano region of Bolivia.

Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia - SaltFlats-3586

Laguna Colorada (Red Lagoon) contains algae and other minerals that gives it a reddish color

Laguna Verde (Green Lagoon) contain copper that gives it a greenish color.  These lakes are in close proximity of each other and located 4,300 meters or 13,000 feet above sea level.

More Bolivian Landscape Photography

More Surreal Landscapes.  When the trip started I had little knowledge about Bolivia and what little did i expect.  But as we got closer towards the border crossing into Bolivia, my curiosity sank in.  I had never heard of the Salt Flats.

Another gorgeous scenery of the salt lakes, but this time this one is Laguna Colorado (Red Lagoon) with a pair of Lamas in the foreground.  Combined with the deep blue sky, the reddish tone of the lake, and the encrusted lake bed,  there is nothing but absolute clarity that lies in plain sight.  Its natural wonder escapes you.

Snow caped peaks and piercing blue sky in the midst of its desolate surroundings gives a unique to Bolivian landscape.

And then there are these cactus islands in the Salt Flat region in Bolivia.

Strange, out the world, and mind boggling , nothing i had ever seen compares to this.

I remember the cold.. and it felt like the longest stretch of travel....

4 days and 3 nights we traveled through the Bolivian desert, from the border crossing near San Pedro de Atacama, Chille to Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia.

It was a fun ride, in these 4 x 4 vehicles

We slept in the below freezing temperatures at altitudes of up to 4,000 meters.  These hostels are made from the same salt that is surfaced everywhere in Salar de Uyuni.

The mix of freezing cold temperatures, 4 x 4 wheeling, and the beautiful scenery made this 4 day stretch of discovery unforgetable
