More Surreal Landscapes. When the trip started I had little knowledge about Bolivia and what little did i expect. But as we got closer towards the border crossing into Bolivia, my curiosity sank in. I had never heard of the Salt Flats.
Another gorgeous scenery of the salt lakes, but this time this one is Laguna Colorado (Red Lagoon) with a pair of Lamas in the foreground. Combined with the deep blue sky, the reddish tone of the lake, and the encrusted lake bed, there is nothing but absolute clarity that lies in plain sight. Its natural wonder escapes you.
Snow caped peaks and piercing blue sky in the midst of its desolate surroundings gives a unique to Bolivian landscape.
And then there are these cactus islands in the Salt Flat region in Bolivia.
Strange, out the world, and mind boggling , nothing i had ever seen compares to this.

I remember the cold.. and it felt like the longest stretch of travel....
4 days and 3 nights we traveled through the Bolivian desert, from the border crossing near San Pedro de Atacama, Chille to Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia.
It was a fun ride, in these 4 x 4 vehicles
We slept in the below freezing temperatures at altitudes of up to 4,000 meters. These hostels are made from the same salt that is surfaced everywhere in Salar de Uyuni.
The mix of freezing cold temperatures, 4 x 4 wheeling, and the beautiful scenery made this 4 day stretch of discovery unforgetable

Bolivia - Salt Flats - Landscape
I've seen flats before but this one in Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia is something else. I love the look of the crystalized surface that we got stand on.
Thank you G adventures!
One thing has to be said.. I didn't travel alone. In fact I was accompanied by like minded travelers from around the world who wanted to experience something extraordinary. Big thanks to G Adventures for guiding our group(s) into an unfamiliar world.

Street Art - Murals - South America
Street art made public in plain sight in La Boca barrio, Buenos Aires.
And in every turn on the corner there you find something visually stimulating..
Montevideo, Uruguay
These images stand for something, a voice for the social concious or a political wing.
and even if there were no motivated message, the meaning is behind the shapes and colors and viewpoints that are all together in a city full of eclectic vibe. One of my favorite cities, Montevideo, to look at.
More street art from the Bella Vista barrio in Santiago.
The street art here gives the neighborhood an identity. As a visitor I wont remember the details, but remember what was seen.

Street Art - La Boca, Buenos Aires
La Boca barrio in Buenos Aires. A center of radical politics, its ties to European lineage, and a cultural melting pot. A voice resonates in this part of the capital of Argentina, and which is why i choose this city as a must re-visit. Bur for now I can enjoy in my freedom to see the freedom expressed on these walls.

Murals - Santiago, Chile
My first photo blog post. Murals and street art were a lasting theme in my trip to South America. This one was located in a subway station in Santiago, Chile. I love the rigid shape of the mountainous background with the sun rays coming from behind, so true to Chile's unique earthly landform.
